Especially when platforming is so one noted. You could argue it’s like a new game plus or a completionist aspect, but to me seemed liked a flawed design choice to hold back on those abilities. After looking up what I was missing, I just didn’t even bother cause platforming was a chore. The way I play is to get near the end then try to compete the map before the final boss. I saw all the visual queues for the platforming abilities but they never showed up in the progression of the game. Having played through many MVs I find them to be the most exciting part. It wasn’t worth it and didn’t need it to beat the game. ![]() I backtracked a good amount looking for them but just got tired of traversing. I was looking g forward to the blood and roots abilities but then beat the game. I guess I was referring to platforming abilities. Idk why the spoiler tag isn’t working but Ori, Super Metroid, Guacamelee, Phoenotopia, SotN. I would recommend a lot of other MVs before this. I learned this after my play through and was pretty disappointed since the platforming isn’t that fun, I didn’t even bother.īosses are fun, Aesthetics are cool, controls are tight, but overall it was more of a pain to play than anything. There are ability upgrades that rewards exploring, but that’s end game and not even needed to beat the game. All gates are part of one big maze opened by unlocking doors from another section to another. I’m all for a challenge and wish there was more areas in hollow Knight like the white palace but Blasphemous wasn’t fun to explore.Īs an MV it’s missing ability gates (clarified in my comment below). Combat is fun but the platforming is a drag. Having played through a lot of Metroidvanias. If you haven’t played Hades, that’s an easy recommendation for that genre.
